At Eastbrook Studios we offer both Far Infrared and Full Spectrum Saunas

Far Infrared or Full Spectrum Sauna? What’s the difference?

The terms “far Infrared” and “full spectrum” refer to levels of infrared heat emitted inside your sauna to make it warm. In order to understand the difference between the two, we need to cover some basics.

Infrared heat is categorized by three levels:

  • near infrared = deep

  • mid infrared = deeper

  • far infrared = deepest

Each one penetrates the skin to a different degree. As a result, different physical conditions are targeted at each level. An easy way to think of it is like this:

A far infrared sauna, as its name suggests, only emits far infrared heat. A full spectrum sauna, on the other hand, emits all three levels of infrared heat (i.e., near, mid, and far).

Chromotherapy

COLOR THERAPY INCLUDED IN EACH SAUNA

Enhance your sauna experience and transform your mental wellbeing with chromotherapy—colorful beauty that is also beneficial. This lighting feature paints your sauna with colors from the sun's visible light spectrum believed to align with different body energy points, creating an artful atmosphere with a balance-bringing effect on different parts of your body.

Far Infrared Sauna Uses:

Far infrared saunas are the best fit for wellness goals that aren’t tied to a severe health condition. They stimulate detoxification, weight loss, boosted immunity, reduced blood pressure, better circulation, and improved cardiovascular health.

Heat in a far infrared sauna is good at penetrating your body’s soft tissue and, thereby, raising your core temperature. This begins a chain reaction in which the heart rate increases, profuse sweating occurs, and your circulation improves. You, ultimately, create a response in your body similar to the one you would experience through a moderate jog.

Full Spectrum Sauna Uses:

Full spectrum saunas are unique in that they emit near, mid, and far infrared heat all at once. This means that in addition to the far infrared benefits listed above, full spectrum saunas can be good for localized pain relief, cell health, skin renewal, and wound healing.

Adding near infrared heat to the mix is this sauna’s super power. Every cell in our body contains a structure called the mitochondria (a.k.a., “the powerhouse of the cell”). All of our bodily functions rely on them working at full capacity. Lazy or fatigued mitochondria result in dysfunctional systems that many experts argue contribute to conditions like heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune disorders, arthritis, thyroid and/or adrenal imbalances, and even lingering athletic injuries.

However, surrounding the mitochondria are tiny photoreceptors. When exposed to near infrared heat, these receptors cue the mitochondria to pump more oxygen into your bloodstream. These re-energized mitochondria, then, help reverse the damage in the system and, thus, ease the severity of symptoms.

Near Infrared (NIR): Penetrates the outer layer of skin to promote healing, improve skin conditions, and enhance cellular regeneration. Infrared saunas can improve skin tone and reduce wrinkles by boosting collagen production and promoting circulation.

Mid Infrared (MIR): Reaches deeper into tissues to aid in pain relief, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation.

Far Infrared (FIR): Penetrates the deepest layers to promote detoxification, enhance cardiovascular health, and support weight loss.
